The College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology Student Executive Council
The College of Agricultural Sciences & Technology Student Executive Council (SEC) is a joint council comprised of one representative from each of the student clubs and organizations within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (CAST) at California State University, Fresno. Members of the SEC include elected officers, the Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) Senator from CAST, and a faculty advisor representing the Office of the Dean.
SEC provides a means whereby the students in CAST are more fully represented, both within CAST and the Associated Students, Inc (ASI) Senate. SEC supplies an avenue of communication between the students, the faculty and the administration of the CAST. Students are given the opportunity to have their voices heard by serving on the CAST ad hoc committees, and the university Student Cabinet.
SEC meetings allow clubs from different departments within the college to communicate with each other. The clubs have the advantage of submitting a combined budget request for ASI funds each year. Participation in the SEC is beneficial not only to the clubs, but also to the individual representatives, who develop leadership, parliamentary procedure, and communication skills through interaction with the other members of the council, faculty and administration. For more information on the SEC, please contact the Office of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology at (559) 278-2061.

The California State University, Fresno Enology Society was established to provide an opportunity to meet others with common interests and to enhance the members' understanding of wine and its role in our culture. Wine, as we know it, is a product of civilization and throughout recorded time has been a part of our aesthetic heritage. Enology focuses on a unique blend of both artistic and scientific approaches involved in wine production.
The intent of the Enology Society is not only to enhance the students' knowledge and understanding of wine, but to create a friendly atmosphere for all who simply wish to enjoy themselves and meet new people. The members of the Enology Society are periodically involved in events
sponsored by our organization as well as other events conducted off campus. Scheduled events include biweekly wine tastings, barbecues and banquets. Emphasis is placed on attendance at the wine tastings, as such experiences can be insightful to prospective enologists who will affect the wine consumers as they become wine makers. By introducing
today's tastes produced by commercial wineries to this assembly, insight into tomorrow's demands can be generated.
The officers and the members of the Enology Society, welcome anyone who would like to attend our functions. For additional information, please contact the campus winery at (559) 278-2791.

Fresno State is one of only six Division 1 universities in the nation to sponsor the equestrian varsity sport. Team members compete for scholarship and the opportunity to ride on one of the finest team the western region has to offer. The equestrian program, co-sponsored by the Athletic Department and the Department of Animal Sciences, is the newest varsity sport on campus...and on the west coast.
Fresno State equestrian is on the rise. Fresno State typically participates in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) shows throughout the athletic year, running from October through the IHSA national competition in May. The IHSA circuit is unique in that students competing do not ride their own horses. Rather, host schools provide the horses, which are assigned by luck of the draw.
Besides competing for IHSA, the equestrian team is actively involved in the community through Buddy Systems. This is a therapeutic riding program for people with disabilities. Along with this, eleven members of this year's team rode in the 109th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. Fresno State was the only collegiate equestrian unit to participate this year. For more information, contact Megan McGee at (559) 278-4116.
